Shapes & Forms Architects, Inc. has been providing architectural services, including planning, design and programming, for Flagstaff and Northern Arizona since 1998. Our custom designs provide environments that enrich our clients’ lives by creating space that is meaningful and interesting. We approach each project as a unique challenge that receives our full professional attention regardless of the size or complexity.

Having an understanding of a building’s environment is a high priority for us, and is a large part of our commitment to design excellence based upon a contextual approach to each unique setting. Each of our designs is distinctive, but has the commonality of a balance between form and function that reflects our clients’ desires. Our experience working on custom homes, master planning residential communities, and designing with unique climate and topographical conditions is drawn upon to create intelligent, imaginative and economical designs.

Stephen M. Dorsett, Owner/President, holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Arizona, and has been a licensed Architect since 1989. Prior to establishing Shapes & Forms Architects, Inc. in 1998, Stephen gained valuable experience working in several Architect’s offices in Phoenix from 1985-1998. Stephen holds an NCARB certificate, serves on the Design Review Committee for the Pine Canyon Village Association, served on the Board of Directors of the Northern Arizona Building Association, and was a commissioner on the City of Flagstaff Planning and Zoning Commission.

Since its inception, Shapes & Forms Architects, Inc. has designed over 50 custom residences, a 16-unit affordable housing project, a 96-unit condominium project, a 93-room hotel, several remodels, and a small office/warehouse building. However, custom homes continue to be an integral part of our business.
